Our Story

Built by someone who lived it

HeirPortal exists because estate execution shouldn't mean choosing between grieving and communicating.

Why I Built HeirPortal

In 2019, my father passed away after a long illness. He'd named me executor — a responsibility I accepted without really understanding what it meant.

I thought the hard part would be the legal paperwork. I was wrong.

The hard part was the phone calls.

My two sisters, my uncle, my dad's cousin, my stepmother — everyone had questions. Reasonable questions. But the same questions, over and over.

“Did you file the will?” (Yes, three weeks ago.)

“What's happening with the house?” (Still in probate.)

“When can we schedule the estate sale?” (I don't know yet.)

I was working full-time, parenting two kids, and spending my evenings on the phone repeating the same updates. I missed my son's baseball game because I was explaining probate timelines to my uncle. Again.

One night, after a particularly exhausting call, my wife said:

“Why isn't there just a website where everyone can see what's going on?”

I looked. There wasn't.

So I built one.

HeirPortal is the tool I wish I'd had. A simple dashboard where executors post updates once, and family members see them instantly. No more phone tag. No more repeating yourself. No more choosing between grieving and communicating.

If you're going through this right now, I'm sorry. It's hard.

But you don't have to do it the hard way.

Our Values

What guides us every day

Family First

Every feature we build asks: does this bring families closer or push them apart?

Trust is Everything

You're sharing sensitive documents and difficult news. We treat that responsibility with the gravity it deserves.

Simplicity Over Features

We'd rather do three things beautifully than ten things adequately. Complexity is the enemy of adoption.
